My Approach

I have a collaborative approach, working with clients to develop goals and a treatment plan that fits their individual needs and circumstances.  During the first couple of appointments we will discuss the client’s reasons for seeking therapy, their personal history that contributes to who they are today, and what they would like to see change in their life.  I see my role as helping clients build their inner resources so they have the confidence, strength and sense of peace to live a happy, fulfilling and satisfying life.  It is important to achieve a balance in life and know that one can cope with the challenges that lie ahead.  I give clients tools to understand past conflicts, manage current struggles, and look forward to their future.

I use a variety of therapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness strategies.  With children I use the previous approaches in addition to play therapy.  I also work with parents on strategies they can implement at home so they are reinforcing positive behaviors and relationships with their child.  With family therapy, I consider the entire family system as I work with various family members.

If you would like to know more about me, and how we can work together, please call and I can answer any questions you may have before scheduling our first appointment.
